What Namibia built in July 2026: The coast leads and renovations keep climbing

Buildings worth N$103.5 million were completed in Namibia's four biggest reporting towns in July 2026, according to the latest Buildings Completed Report from the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA). The coast did most of the building, home completions held steady against last year, and renovations rose for a third month in a row.
The NSA tracks completion permits, issued when a building is finished and signed off, in Windhoek, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and Ongwediva. Here is what July's numbers show, and what they could mean if you are buying, selling or renting.
104 buildings signed off
The four towns issued 104 completion permits in July. That is 11 more than in July 2025 (93), but well down from a busy June, when 143 were issued.
Because of that drop from June, the NSA's composite index fell 48.2% month on month. Year on year it was down only 2.9%, so July was a fairly normal month after an unusually strong one.
| Building type | Permits, July 2026 |
|---|---|
| Additions and alterations | 55 |
| Residential | 46 |
| Institutional | 2 |
| Industrial | 1 |
| Commercial | 0 |
| Total | 104 |
Work on existing buildings made up more than half of all completions. No commercial buildings were completed, after Walvis Bay recorded three in June.
Two-thirds of the value was at the coast
