Harrold Page - Real estate with grit, vision, and heart

When you think of someone who has truly built their career from the ground up, few stories match that of Harrold Page, founder and principal of HomePAGE Estate Agency. What started as a passion for property and a keen business instinct has evolved into one of Namibia’s most respected independent real estate brands.

Building a legacy from passion
Harrold’s journey into real estate began long before he made it official. Even in his earlier years, he was buying, selling, and exploring open houses across Johannesburg, drawn by a natural fascination with property. But it wasn’t until he returned to Namibia in 2015 that this passion turned into a full-time career.

“I’ve always had an interest in property,” he explains. “But at the time, I was in a permanent job and couldn’t make the leap. When I returned home, I decided it was finally time to follow that calling.”

In October 2015, Harrold became a registered agent, and just months later, HomePAGE officially opened its doors on 16 May 2016. Only three days after launch, on his brother’s birthday, Harrold sold his first home. “I was lucky,” he laughs. “From there, things just took off. I sold one or two homes every month and never looked back.”

Growing HomePAGE into a trusted name
Next year marks a decade since HomePAGE was founded. A milestone that reflects Harrold’s vision and leadership. Today, the agency operates offices in Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay, and Otjiwarongo, with agents stationed across each area. While HomePAGE is a proudly coastal brand, Harrold also focuses on lifestyle properties across Erongo, Kunene, and Otjozondjupa, with Omaruru as one of his strongest markets.

Reading the Market
Ask Harrold about Namibia’s property trends, and you’ll get a data-driven yet down-to-earth perspective. “The coastal market is very buoyant right now,” he says. “In Swakopmund alone, erf prices have climbed by roughly 60% in the past year. There’s strong demand across the board, and rentals are scarce; many people are even commuting from Henties Bay because they can’t find or afford places in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund.”

Harrold notes that investor activity is rising, too. “People are looking for properties they can rent out, so we’re seeing an increase in buy-to-let purchases. Sellers, on the other hand, are focused on achieving the best possible price, often exceeding formal valuations.”

Guiding first-time buyers
Helping newcomers enter the market is a responsibility Harrold takes seriously. “First-time buyers often underestimate transfer and bond costs,” he explains. “We make sure they understand these expenses before they commit. The first home isn’t just a place to live, it’s an opportunity to start building future income.”

Technology with a human touch
While Harrold acknowledges the importance of technology in today’s market, he believes real estate will always need a human element. “AI can’t replace personal connection,” he says firmly. “People still want someone they trust to guide them. You can’t automate honesty.”

He does, however, appreciate how smartphones and instant messaging have made agents more responsive. “You can’t switch off anymore,” he adds. “Clients expect quick replies, and if you don’t respond, they’ll go to the next agency.”

If he could add one thing to make business easier? “Online access to Namibia’s Deeds Office, like they have in South Africa. That would be a game-changer.”

Defining moments & lessons learned
In his nearly decade of running HomePAGE, Harrold has achieved numerous milestones. From being recognised as a top-performing agency by FNB and Bank Windhoek to representing Namibia abroad with banking partners. But his proudest accomplishment? “Seeing all our agents do well,” he says. “They each have sustainable income and strong reputations. That means more to me than any award.”

His most memorable sale came during the pandemic, when travel restrictions meant foreign clients couldn’t view properties in person. Using WhatsApp video calls, Harrold sold a home in the Omaruru Wildlife Estate sight unseen. “They told me my previous clients recommended me because I was ‘blatantly honest’, and that they could trust what I said. They bought the home before ever setting foot inside. That’s a deal I’ll never forget.”

Principles for Success
Harrold’s advice to new agents is simple but profound: “Be honest — even if it costs you a deal.” Integrity, he believes, is the foundation of every successful real estate career. “If people trust you, your name goes ahead of you. That’s your greatest asset.”

He’s also refreshingly candid about common misconceptions: “People think agents are dishonest or overpaid. But if they saw the work and commitment that goes into every transaction, they’d think differently.”

Looking ahead, Harrold hopes to stay in tune with the market, explore new opportunities, and perhaps collaborate with reputable developers. “I’d love to get more involved in development work,” he says thoughtfully. “It’s the next natural step.”

Beyond real estate
When he’s not managing his agency or closing deals, Harrold dreams of combining his love for travel, property, and storytelling. “If I weren’t in real estate, I’d probably be a travel and food blogger,” he smiles. “Imagine listing properties across Europe, filming them for agencies, and sharing food experiences along the way. That would be my dream job.”

For now, though, Namibia remains home, and his community, clients, and agents are his daily motivation. “We’ve built a clean, respected brand,” he says proudly. “That’s something worth waking up for.”

And on those busy show days? “I keep it simple,” he laughs. “A strong Americano, black, no sugar. But I did try salted coffee in Vietnam recently, and I must admit, it’s surprisingly good!”

Harrold’s journey is one of quiet determination, integrity, and innovation. Nearly ten years in, HomePAGE Estate Agency continues to thrive under his steady leadership. It is a testament to what’s possible when passion meets purpose.
